Hi all I’ve got a job to cover the artex in a car port, it’s a dry ceiling undercover but is open at either end( basically a tunnel.would you go with normal bond and set or flatten with a thin coat if ocr or similar?

wouldnt use gypsum

cement board and render or masterboard with capped screws.

Regs these days would need a fire protection so an a1 fire rated board would be a must

You sure it's artex? Not known that survive outside because of frost and damp.
I've seen it survive if painted, bit scrappy around the edges but several years old when I saw it. Good point by Dan about fire Regs - may or might not apply for an existing carport, usually if you touch it you have to bring it up to current Regs - But is OCR fire rated? Or would that be a No Go?

ocr isnt fire rated. the protection is in the board.
