One coating plasterboard..

Been reading on a Facebook page how this is becoming common practice on lots of sites, I can't see it being a good standard. Never seen one coat work done well, could be wrong

I lay in with same gear which is apparently 1 coat. I don’t agree with that tho.

f**k knows how anyone can actually put 1 coat on board. Tried it a few times too much work

@Olican for years now on most sites they only measure materials to allow for 1 coat.

If the boardwork is bang on & all joints and beads are dubbed out in front from a separate mix then absoloutley no need for 2 coats on plasterboard.

@lurpak genuinley if you was shown how to 1 coat plasterboard properly you would get a better finish than 2 tight coats from same mix.

Agree there..can give it a semi flatten when you lay 2nd coat on..dont save time either way

I've been looking at spreads 1 coating g boards for years it looks a total disgrace. Scrim showing beads dished ect ect . Maybe theres a rare few who can pull it off but I ain't met one in my 30year stint

You've hit the nail on the head it's the applicator not the system just like ruff 2 coat work.

Beads dished and scrim showing is bad prep work in them areas there should be 2 coats from separate mixes hence @lurpak why posh 1 coat ie same mix not as good over boardwork as proper well prepped 1 coat work.

Maybe on little shithouse appartments in the centre of Manchester youd get away with it or pokey housing associations in run down areas of manchester but on decent gaffes we do no chance we wouldn't get paid

Used to skim on site for years exactly the same method no one would knock a new batch up you would knock enough up for laying on

And that's exactly how we do it . But we all have different methods and if it dont get snagged well that's ok imo how the pink shite goes on

All spreads I know do it. Only knock up fresh for bigger hits or if low bg.
