Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this.

I have silicon sealed round the windows and expansion joints of 3 houses I have built and rendered in monorex.

Round windows is stop beaded where ingoe/reveal meets window (which is alu clad windows) with pvc beads. Anyway a while later and silicon has kind of come away and on expansions it has come away from stop bead and or window too.

Reason I ask is I have mainly used sand/cement with metal beads in the past and this has never been a problem. Also render has been left a while before silconing so it wasnt as if it was dusty from scapings etc as rain has given a good wash.

It was just general purpose white silicon same stuff I have always used. Has anyone else found this problem or am I not using correct silicon because beads are plastic and alu clad windows?

All the best,

Ben

the one that will work will be the one that is right for the job in hand soooo, ali window requires a sealant for ali, upvc will require sealant for upvc ans so on.

A polysulphide sealant. allows good flexibility.
expansion joints metal window frames etc.:RpS_thumbup:
