Newbie help needed

Hi I need some advice what to do with damaged walls. What's the best thing to do. I have plastered walls before which didn't turn out too bad but the other walls in our house are damaged. Cracked, holes and bad repair jobs by the previous owner. Any tips would be grateful

Try taping the cracks then go over with joint compound feathering ou as you go , maybe 30cm then paint/ paper but if that looks rubbish then skim the whole wall.

Just skimmed 2 of the walls but I did get in a mess.plaster went everywhere.wish I hadn't of bothered now
