after using nela s*p*r*lex trowel since they came out recently I've noticed on the butt end of boards they show lines where the boards join onto the other boards .my method of using the trowel is 2 cross trowels at the end of the gauge but I do lay on only 2 mil !my question is is it because I'm laying on to thin ? Or just maybe hitting to soon with flex any ideas very much appreciated thanks in advance .

The only advice I can give is its nothing to do with the trowel

I think that's fairly obvious by him saying its just on joints of boards If I've read it correctly..dsnt take Sherlock to work this 1 out

The ceiling was metal the builder left a couple of mil gap between boards of which I greased over prior to skimming .the ceiling once painted had lines coming through where boards met up . I only ever go over with the flex very late in gauge ! Just curious

Its the skimming sagging because of gaps then...

Too thin or excessive pressure on the flex , causing taking some plaster off the tapered edges. When you fill the gaps you should fill the tapered edges, not the scrim only.Gaps have very little to do with this, in fact small gap actually is better than none.

Is it only happening on the MF ceilings?
I'm not sure as once all work is normally painted I'm gone ! But was thinking to thin but maybe to excessive pressure ! Was thinking of going back to tried trusty mt ! You can't notice anything before paint looks always spot on !

2 much movement on joints.....ive been on some sites where the metal stud and boarding is fuucking horrendious.
And seems impossible to sort even corked the day before with adhesive.

@Kitchy....been saying it and telling you and others for ages plasterboard once beads joints and door cases are bedded down only needs 1 good heavy coat!!!

You've seen the light son!... Now perfect it and your talking serious dough!!!

@Bagrat if having probs stop crossing your work early on always trowel up the joint rather than across the joint.

I ain't putting 3 gauges on this week let alone in a day, got like 2-3m² to skim in a kitchen tomorrow afternoon after we ripped the old one out, so I can throw the tiles on Wednesday morning that will nicely do me and hopefully by Thursday I can jump on an exterior for a week if the scaffolding goes up by then
