Hello gang,
I need a kick in the right direction concerning acrylic render process -
I'm an experienced NVQ qual. spread familiar with all aspects of traditional solid, plus some fibrous plastering.
Never done any acrylic rendering although it doesn't look too difficult (famous last words)
I have landed a nice little earner to re-do a load of internal work and unfinished external work left by a shoddy Polish gang who had a big fall out and went back to Poland without finishing the job.
The external work required is just to;
1 form a couple of reaveals that are still polystyrene,
2 Apply different accent colour in some other prepped but unfinished reveals
3 Acrylic render the the front and side of a large double garage including deep entrance reveals
I can see that the process they have used is;
1 Glue the polystyrene insulation boards into place,
2 Then glued on a large scrim type mesh
3 Applied some kind of plain backing coat acrylic render
4 Applied a top-coat coloured acrylic render with quartz crystal like finish
5 Applied a further accent colour of blue quartz around the windows and inside the reveals (on the customer’s request as this matches the original painted colour scheme of the bungalow. I believe they just masked off the area with masking tape to achieve this.
Now obviously I am being a bit of a chancer here taking this on but I’m an experienced and skilled trowel hand and applying muck and leaving it flat and nicely finished is what I do all year long and I’m thinking this is a nice easy introduction to acrylic render.
The products and materials are all polish (Bolix Render) and they are already on site.
What I want help with specifically, is:
1 Could someone give me the approximate setting times of each of the process stages above?
2 Have I stated them correctly and the right order?
3 Are there any stages missing?
I guess not many people have used the Polish product Bolix but lets assume it’s going to be similar in nature to the British equivalents. (Bolix is coming to GB under the new name of Solix soon apparently, via an office in Ireland. (Cant think why they would want to change the name)
Sorry for such a tediously long post. Thanks for reading this far !
I’ve not been able to find another post which gives me this information, nor another website so any help, or links to another web page would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
SPREDZ
