Doing a high ceiling job the day and dropped the fecker and gave it a tasty ding and it's a write off, my trusty ol 16' MT is now confined to the render bucket.

Any suggestions might try something else for a wee change however i do love my MT's, needin a 16 ss broken in as i have a wee bit of plasterwork coming up cheers in advance

My suggestion would be have 3 trowels on the go, just rotate between trowels then you will always have a back up.

na i have 2 for plastering and i have a 20' inch i use also plus i have a 14 and an 11 for render work but both are usuitable for finishing but borderline for plastering so i will need to invest in another decent finishing trowel, that awright wi you:RpS_biggrin:

Lads are using spats on the job were on, best work I've ever seen there only young too spawny caaaaaants

Got 2 14x5 ss MT as back up but main skimmin trowel is 14x4 carbon with a handle I've carved down to suit.

There in the next one I think we've got 6 for next week Josh might be in one, Josh likes the plazzy mate

not sure we haven't been given them yet lol it's in Gloucester there the last 6 though, are you quiet? It seems to have gone that way

I've been flat out mate with my own stuff 7 days a week....But it's gone quiet now, just on the end of last job, and only a few bits and peices to do after.....

Got a 16 MT ss today for £33, which isn't bad.

Want to try one of these plastic trowels i see on ebay they any good, whats the script with them in regards to use/technique?

I know this keeps on coming up but im not familliar with "sponging" before trowelling up with the plastic, can anyone enlighten me?

Is the sponge on a float, at what stage do you sponge?

Well when you use a poly float you put some screws in it to key it ready for skimming don't you.

I swear you just said to bod something like 'while you're at it, try one of these' and put up a link for the diamond faced floats. Or am I going mad.

Ive got to say over the last few months ive tried it all, sponge float, plazzies one coating but ive stayed with 2 coating and steel cos it is better and i think no slower

i was on a ceiling yesterday bonding a conctete ceiling and i thought i wud get the 20 plazzy out just to see what is like on backing coats to flatten off. PIle off shite. only tried because i read on here someone used it to flatten render.:RpS_wub:

ps was looking at the kraft trowls last last. SS and quite a bit cheaper than MT. Are they any good and do they come pre worn in???????
