Been plastering a fair few years now and my finish lately has gone to s**t. It just doesn't trowel up like it used too, its sometimes tearing on the second coat on the first flatten over. It seems greasy and leaving stripes all through it, which almost certain this will show up when painted. Having to trowel up again after its completely gone off to try and limit this. I'm at abit of a loss what to do, as my business is based on reputation and word of mouth and in all honesty I wouldn't recommend me at the moment. Take a lot of pride in my work and enjoy coming home knowing I've done a good job for someone, this s**t's just depressing. Anyone else fidning the same thing? If so have you found a way to avoid or remedy it?

rifina plasiflex will stop your tiger striping but plaster is no longer what it should be

Been finding the board better than multi but that said it's very inconsistent. Read recently someone saying they mixed board and multi and that improves it. @John j mixing dab through multi to improve it (tried this and it did improve it). We shouldn't have to mix this and that , very frustrating at times
recently ran a cornice used multi bagged joint finish and lime water worked ok multi on its own just drags

I just stick to board . And now after super neat 2nd coat. I.ll flatten tidy corners. Then over it last time with steel f**k of while it really really firms up then give it a flick with plastic fantastic and it comes up treat no stress .

Cheers for that. Do you still lay on with Marshalltown and use the plasiflex on all subsequent flattening and trowel ups?

first and second mt 13inch then go down to smaller trowel for next on to large plastic and final crossover with dry plazi

New bags are great tho, they’re split before you even touch them

multi finish is shite

People obviously love trowelling up so much they just don't want to stop.
I was dead against these . First time i got showed one i got told you could 1 coat with no water. So i did and rattled few houses of in no time. Then I noticed hows bumpy walls were so f**k*d it of. Started to use it again bout 2 weeks back. Mainly just for last one to finish to light so not really extra work as would have done it with steel. Just easy on joints . I had a kid who I regards as better then me ( doesn't take much) other days and I showed him and he.s against all these new trowel but he said he.s getting one.

I’ve actually always liked plastic trowels as can finish set sooner .only problem is the scratches. Can’t seem to get em out. I think even the grit in gear scratches the plazi up

Been using plazi again lately as finish plaster seems allergic to stainless steel other than putting it on
Just found I have to hit it once more with plastic. With steel It could be one or three so makes sense. Have you seen the ox ones with white blades . Bloke in shop Said there new but not keen on handles like the sponge floats

try wiping your blade with a very fine wet and dry paper
