My makita demolition hammer just stopped working ???

No power at all. Changed fuse ect but no joy.

Its quite old.

Anyone had this problem? Know how to fix it? Or is it a case of binning it and getting a new one?

gotta be one of the following..
1. dodgy lead, happens a lot with site tools, check it by replacing the lead with a bit of flex and if it works either cut it back beyond the break or get some decent power tool flex...
2. knackered switch, check by by passing it, if it works, get a new switch...
3. brushes, common again, specially if old, a lot of the larger demo hammer brushes have theyre own little access cartridges on the side of the machine.. if theyre down to the spring, replace em.. sometimes you can just turn em round if theyre a bit carbonised...
4. burnt out winding...pretty much fatal cos its a new motor unless you got something you can cannibalise (unlikely for a match)
and last but not least..
5. power cut ;D

Thanks for the details mate, err..... in the bin that goes then. To much hassle to get it working i think.

if you dont feel confident stripping it, the local hire centre will usually service gear for you, 30 quid might save you 200+ for a new one..
