Is it just me or do you all lose hand tools on a regular bias >:( in the last month I'm down a margin trowel , pointing trowel ,one shovel a small metal feather edge , two decent water brushes and a bolster and cleaning up brush , how much is down to me or bloody lazy labourers who dont give a toss about what costs money and taken me years to wear in ?.

painters walking off with a load of new dust sheets leaving their old shi.ters .got em back and then shook em outside a couple of fresh stained garage doors :)

the thing is i only use wooden handled tools so i have to search for the tools i want and need and as most tools are either shite or have plastic handles these days tools cost me money plus p&p and they take some wearing in to get them about right .

ITS WORSE WHEN YOU TURN UP TO A JOB AND TELL THE LAB TO GET A MIX ON AND HE COMES AND SAYS THERES NO TOOLS IN THE VAN BOSS ,SOME c**t HAS ONLY GONE AND ROBBED ALL MY TOOLS NIGHT BEFORE PEOPLE LIKE THAT MAKE ME SICK THEY SHOULD AV THERE FINGERS CUT OFF

You see when I was a labourer I would use my wages to buy new tools for me so I would eventually have a good tool kit then one of the spreads go do a private job leave half of it behind I turn up monday morning and the c**t would go oi you nicked my bucket trowel.... f**k**s!!

I know spend 10 mins engraving tools or spray them pink!!

lol I was on site and people kept nicking buckets so I went to the pound shop and bought bringht pink ones lol funny how I left the job with the same buckets!!

I'd definitely say it's down to the labourer if he's anything 99% of labourers I've had.
yes dopey as (german word) mate

To be fair if you can put up with the downsides then these dopey labourers they can work out the best in the long run.
The bright sparky ones watch, learn and move on before you know it where as if you can train the dopey ones to mix and clean up to a decent level that's where they stay until you decide otherwise.

Tbh ive had at least half a dozen labourers over the years maybe more , and the last couple have been the worst don't know if its a generation thing or the fact no one want to work hard at it anymore, what is really surprising is the latest one has done two years at plastering college and he knows nothing about plastering he never did any rendering or backing coat work didnt even talk about it ??? wtf

I took a bloke on a few years ago like that Church, after working with him for less than half an hour on the first day I quizzed him about his total lack of knowledge about anything to do with plastering. His reply, "for the whole of my two year course my lecturer turned up drunk every day and just slept in the corner of the room". So as not to be found out the entire class were given their papers by the college. WTF

Those that can do those who can't teach!!

I hated my lecturers act college I did law, business and communication they new s**t about it and they were all failed in the proffession so they decided to be teachers!!

Some one knicked my wheel barrow from a job on Saturday night, turned up Sunday morning to finnish some rendering and it was gone .

on the subject of labourers I ruin the best one I ever had I taught him the basics and got him his nvq and he was gone, he was a great labourer and a more than slightly less than good plasterer
