I normally use dri coat, but what's this stuff like to use, and after skimming does it take a while to dry like dri coat as it can take weeks to dry on that.

also best to use limelite high impact finish
rather than gypsum finish plaster over limelite renovating

not seen drycoat on sale since b&q pulled it

was about 10.00(inc vat) bag for drycoat --- limelite -- 17.00 (inc vat)

Been a while since I've used it but pretty sure it says not to use normal skim on it, iirc has to be left 24 hours before skimming.

my local travis has started doing dry coat at £14+vat. and there 1 ton bags of sand are £37 +vat. its sand and cement all the way for me!!

have a close look at those bags of sand in tp they are only 3 quarters of a ton. i purchase sand direct from pit £13 per ton

Used limelite a few times and always just used multi over the top of it. Bag does say to only use high impact finish but could never source it and never had any problems.

Why dont you try render lite good gear but will take a while for the skim to dry out.

Its just about the same to use. Personally I would just use water proof sand and cement, unless you have to use the limelite.

we use a cement based shite called k-mix....you can just about get away with setting same day(multi)but not recomended...sorry no idea how much it costs, but if we use it its bound to be the cheapest on the market.

A prefer a renovating plaster, dri-coat etc to S&C. its a better insulator so you dont get cold spots and its got salt inhibitors in it.............oh and its much lighter to use............whats not to like...........:RpS_thumbup:

I know what you mean. I just like sand and cement, its what I was taught with.

agree with artisan...

just add water and mix ...

only needs 24hrs before applying finish....

also never had any cracking with it (has fibres in too)

And if using limelite, remember to mix, leave standing then knock back up or it can be a Bugger to work with. I know this applies to the h.i. finish, can't remember if the backing coat needs it as well.
Not used it for about 6 years.

Ok so does anyone know who stocks limelite around north London herts area, as I always have to go to tp Wandsworth to get the dri coat, I know they do the limelite but just looking for somewhere a bit closer

Can't somewhere order it in for you?
Do you use a general builders yard or a plastering specialists?

thanks for the interpretation....................:RpS_thumbup:lots of homophobs on here lately...:RpS_confused:
