Hi Guys, this is my first post so hello everyone and thanks in advance for any advice.

From reading some (a lot) of the advice on here I have decided that my gable wall needs re-doing with lime render - it's currently got what i think is cement render that's blown and falling off. The property is a solid wall stone built end terrace.

My question is who should I get to do it? Can any descent renderer work with lime or is it a specialist skill? Does anyone know of reputable people in the peak district area? I would love to do the work myself but rendering is one of those jobs you need more than just a bit of nouse to do, i tried plastering once and just ended up with a load of muck on my shoulder!!

Thanks again

KG

Welcome along! Tbh any good plasterer would be able to do it. The biggest thing you need make sure you are aware of is that Lime takes longer to cure and needs some more looking after. If you are happy to you can work with your plasterer so that when they leave the job you can keep the lime damp and protect it from wind to prevent drying.

For ease you can buy pre mixed Lime mortar which helps to take out any inaccuracies if your plasterer has not used it. Most of the companies you buy it from have extensive knowledge and more than happy to give advice to promote the use of Lime.

Unfortunately your quite a way out of our work area but hopefully they will be someone closer to you.

Have a look at the short videos on roundtowerlime.com . You may still not do the job yourself, but you will be better equipped to talk to a competent tradesperson.
