Labourer looking for work (southwest)

Hello all

I am a 19 year old labourer looking to get into plastering. For the last year I have been working as a labourer for a few different agencies, I cant say i'm specifically a plasterers labourer but I have a years worth of site experience: humping heavy materials around sites(lots of experience doing that), some taping jointing and plasterboarding, a little floor screeding and work with underfloor heating, a little knowledge of lime plaster and lathe and lime,using disc cutters, using laser levels probably some other stuff as well.

I am willing to do a weeks worth of labouring for free for anyone who might want to employ me and will continue to work as a labourer for a few years for less then agency pay to make it worth your while. I have a CSCS greencard and health and safety and first aid certificates and all that malarky.I have passed the firedoor test, I.e I can lift a fire door ;).
I live in Cornwall and I have my own transport and plan on buying a van when the time comes, so can travel within reason to get to work. If you want proof that I have a CSCS card just private message me and i will send you my reg no.

If anyone else has any advice or job offers i would like to hear form you.

@ spunky, im prepared to work for minumum wage or less, its what I expected to be honest, just need enough money to get to work, the agencies paid me around 6 pound an hour and I spent about 20 quid a week on petrol but wouldn't mind working for less seeing as i'd be getting an education out of it.

you dnt find many labs like this nowadays, hope you get a start mate unfortunatly your about 6 mabey 7 hours away from me so commuting would be a biatch haha, but seriously well in fella and good luck with finding someone

Ive been doing more ringing round and keep getting the same answer, we have got experienced plasterers ringing up asking for work but no work to do, just seems like there's not much work at the moment for plasterers round my way.
 
Keep at it mate get you're foot through the door concentrate do what you're told and 5 years you'll be a spread earning a half decent living ....sort of.....lol
 
Yep you'll go home with bleeding hands and **** all money but hopefully you will feel relieved and still looking forward to the next day :-)
 
The money is shite, but you'll get a good laugh and experience . U sound keen and came across really well in your post, not many boys around with the same attitude as you, most want it handed on a plate, big money, days off with hangovers, bad attitude etc etc, so good luck to you my friend:RpS_thumbup:

Nice lad, but I don't think he was expecting it to be as hard as it turned out to be.

Maybe he would be suitable as a skimmers labourer!?

Still, best of luck to him in finding out what work suits him.

Least you gave himva chance fair play mate .plus im sure he learnt alot even in 2weeks.

Good on you Jasper...... at least you gave him a chance and he found out!

do u think he will go into plastering. r just give up on it
 
I think he believed that he would go straight on to the tools, bypassing the labouring side of the job. I don't think he appreciated just how difficult and demanding labouring for our specific needs was.

To be able to make it in our industry, you do need the right aptitude,attitude and an enthusiasm to want to succeed, and i'm afraid these were lacking. As i said he may be more suited to a smaller skimming gang, rather than the larger rendering outfit he was part of.

But to be fair, we have also used time served plasterers and so called 'machine specialists' on our current contracts and these have also proved to be found wanting, in terms of quality,cleanliness and attitude!. So maybe its just a reflection of current attitudes to manual work and current standards within our industry?

Or maybe I'm just a c*nt to work for,asking someone to do the job they're paid for with a reasonable level of skill, pride and commitment!!!!!!!
