Knauf aquaboards

im boarding out a timber frame at the moment.
Do you guys always use knauf tape and filler to tape up boards?
This gear is ridiculously expensive!!
Can I use another manufactors gear?
I'm using jub render system

We use acrylic sealant in gaps. Then strip of mesh over joints then scrim.

We had this debate. Why leave a gap to fill it with basecoat making it rigid again. The acrylic creates that movement gap

Hi Bobby

If you are looking at getting the render on within 4 to 6 weeks, then we would recommend that you mix up the basecoat and push this into the gaps before applying the basecoat and mesh application - this can be done wet on wet.

If you are going to use a mastic (not something we would recommend, but JUB do) make sure you use a water based mastic and not a silicone one - The basecoat will not stick to the silicone!
