K-rend base over cement boards

Could anybody tell me the correct method to go over cement boards externally for a K-rend finish.
Could you use hp12 meshed or would you need to use hpx meshed?
And do you need to prep the cement board in any way before the base coat?

What make or type of carrier board is it?

I would always say hpx. Hp12 is polymer but best left for masonry IMO.
I would question weather or not you should be using krend ft as the finish over boards though.

Get a written spec from krend.

Other manufacturers do not spec scratch render over board with the exception of a few who have developed light weight polymer versions of their scratch render specifically for this use.
