If you had to move to another country which would it be?

So you are fed up the UK turning into an authoritarian country and you have the opportunity to leave... where do you go?

New Zealand, wife's got family there, or the America cos my mum was born there and I have have family in New Jersey. That would only happen if I won the lottery, I wouldn't do as a working man. We did think about it in our thirties but both our parents were still alive and the kids were settled at school plus we both worked and Britain was a different place then, and we were sound financially.
I think immigration out of the UK is going to increase as people who can, think "if you can't beat'em join em' there's an unfortunate irony to that.

Russia?

It's expensive, I think that at the time we considered it we got a plus for family and my wife's job. being a self employed fully qualified plasterer didn't add much at all, we'd be earning much the same but in a relatively more experience environment.
Went to the States a handful of time's as a kid, New York in 1979 sticks in my mind, like Glasgow on steroids, it struck me that it's a country best experienced with a ton of cash behind you.

This country has gone downhill big time but I think the rest of the world has too.
Holiday destinations are great, but live in the real country and you see how bad some of these countries really are.

I think I'll stay, better the devil you know!

yeah I have to agree...

I have never been so unsure about the future in my life

Is that because you've realised that the world doesn't operate the way you thought it did? That you feel that you're less the master of your own destiny than before?

Not one that alot of people would think of this location and technically it's an Island.
Jersey, 9 mile by 5 my best mate lives there and I've been several times.
It's only 14 mile from France and has no problems with immigration what so ever as they get no money and put straight into jail.
20% income tax no matter how much you earn and the old rates system ( aka council tax) £900 a year 4 bed house.
Everyone knows each other/ friendly, extremely low crime, no need to lock car house, no rubbish/ vandalism.

Be great but earning potential could be quite low...

I think you need a shiteload of money to move to Jersey and become a resident.

Wages are a bit higher but cost of living is also higher so comparable.
Main reason I'm not already there family and like Andy says you have to have a s**t load of money to gain citizenship and buy a property.
You can live there but have to rent for years before being eligible to buy.

Ah I see.

My wife has just applied for her Irish passport so we should be free to go where we please in Europe...

Hard to be miserable in the sun.
