I been toying with the idea of doing something like imprinted concrete on our patio cos it looks shlte.

But I'm going to do it in sand and cement and chuck some colour into the mix, and possibly mark it like ashlar jointing.

An ideas on anything, I dont care how mental. Or has anyone seen anything that looks good?

screed it with sand. then get these block/brick type things, but them down in all different patterns. its like paving with blocks. great stuff.

damp down exisiting and whack in pea shingle to give it some strength ...do some fancy pointing [imprinted] cover it over with plastic sheet ..for shading use cement dye..

I done some flag stones with white cement once looked good .

At the risk of asking a silly question how white does it end up? Probably depends on sand colur too I suppose.

Is it say, like Tyrolean?

lay your concrete, 20mm down, 2inch slumb, C30, rake in, tamp and screed, use a eml roller to push stone down and leave fat, librally sprinkle colour pigment of your choice, float in with a magnesium trowel, use pattern matts to imprint patten, cover with visqueen, next or so depending if cured enough then gently jet wash indirectly and remove excess pigment, donot walk on or use when concrete is dry enough apply sealer ;)

Why a magnesium trowel mate?

Why a magnesium trowel mate?

Magnesium float’s are generally lighter in weight and pass over the surface of the concrete easier than carbon float’s, magnesium floats are generally bigger because there light and therefore better flatteners and glide over the larger aggregate and bring up the fines, basically the weight of the magnesium trowel makes this tool ideal for this process, apart from that I don’t know....... ;D

Anyone done printed concrete?

A mate of mine has some print mats and was considering doing that.

Nope but seen it done and they left dips in it so it collects water and unless you seal it properly the gloss look peels off and looks cr*p.
