whats the best way to give the render the course look. Does a wet sponge bring out the sand. After rubbing it up its very smooth. Just would like the top coat to be more gritty looking after rubbing it.

Sponge brings out the grain, stucco finish I believe it’s called

Spray over it when nearly set or just set with sugary water. It will dissolve the surface cement.

Just sponge it over with a wet car sponge, don’t rub to hard and use big circular motions if possible it helps to disperse the rain as it runs down the wall, instead of it running straight down

Set but not cured. Water with loads of sugar in it. It dissolves the thin layer of cement covering the aggregate. It’s a way of making it look weathered but still fresh.

Thinking back? The man what told me said to do it when wet or nearly set.

Might work when just set.

Something like this?

Floating it when it's still pretty wet will make it look more course if you don't want the dash finish look.
