how thick multi coat?

I have a smallish wall, which after stripping the old plaster off I found that the very top had about a quarter of an inch of multi whilst at the bottom half of it was one and a half inches thick. obviously bad brickying, but can I put it on as it had been put on or should I use two coats nearer the bottom?:huh:

Multi goes on 2-3mm its probably hardwall

or it bonding and not multi as the plaster is very pourous thanks for your info
