Last few jobs I've been on have been between an hour and 2 hours drive. The customers are shocked that i'm not bothered to drive that and they always say 'oooof long travel up from Liverpool ain't it'

I don't see an hour or 2 hours drive as far for work. Is that just me?

How far is pushing it to the point t you start to say no?

I'm comy around 2 hours travel.
3 hours if the jobs worth it.
After that the price stats to go up to allow for the longer day.

I use to drive from MK to Maidenhead every day for like 12 months.... all for £40 a day before tax petrol and food...lol i was keen to learn :D

45 mins max drive for me ..... i cant be arsed do any work when i have to travel too far. 90% of my work is within 20 mintues of home.

a lot less now than i used to,, i think 3 hours is far to much even 2 hours is to long ,1.5 hours is more than enough,

I dont mind traveling long distance to work, i do a bit of work for everest and they have me traveling some distance. but wouldnt go to price a job any further than 30 - 45 mins away.

most of our work is within 30mins. we do travel 1 hour for known customers. that means that i have to get up at 5.30 , leave home 6.30, to be working at 8 am.
we do go overseas to holland and france but that is at special rates.

im loving the job im on at the mo i get up at 7:06 and am on site for 7:45 down the cafe for a cup of coffee and some breckers then start:RpS_thumbup:

Depends on what you do, we specialise in ewi etc so need to travel about to do quotes, plus setting jobs up and overseeing them, I did around 30,000 miles last year, and still not a single point on my licence.

I've been within 5 miles of home since August. But will travel an hour to job. But it can take that long to do 20 miles round here with all the sheep and cows and tractors, farmers etc getting in the way.

Boom and the fine falls through your door ;)

my commute is 6ft if I can't be bothered then I will work from my bed....

But then when I need to I go all over the UK :D

Business miles I did less then 6000 last year, and a speed awareness course instead of 3points.

Well i just have a bike and a trailer i hook up to it so i would say 2 miles other wise i have to put the second trailer on with my camp bed etc ....... lol ..... About a hour max before any real extra charges .... In me van of course :RpS_sneaky:

IF I HAVE TO PUT MY VAN INTO 5th GEAR,ITS TOO FAR>:)

If i've done more than 4 miles then i'm off the Island and out of my comfort zone. My van will be 3years old in May and it's done 18,000 miles. I have a new one on order to give this old girl a rest!

about an hour is mine limit. after that i get stressed, man. been out to st helens, warrington, huyton, chester, etc. in last month or two. only takes about half hour more than i'm used to but i'm a bit of a homeboy and it's gotta be worth my while .... :RpS_wink:

I've done a few jobs in a group of islands near Seattle called the San Juan Islands. They are an awesome place to have a get away home. Lots of people fly their small airplanes back and forth and some take their boats. I thought it would be interesting to move to a town on the mainland close to the Islands and get set up with a large enough boat where you could use it as your 'Van'. Maybe have a 4 wheeler & a small trailer to tow your equipment & materials from the dock to the vacation homes. Unfortunately 99% of all my connections are in Seattle so I'm kinda stuck there.

No more than 45 mins for me boys, dont care how much money is involved I have life after work

Or Belgium lucius?:RpS_wink: that looked fun:RpS_lol:....:RpS_thumbup:

We were only 5 mins from the job though, I still come out in a rash every time I see a bottle of Jaeger didn't do my health a lot of good that little jaunt, ime actualy on my limit this week exactly 45 mins to where ime working.
