Got house to k-rend but it's over existing painted render the render sound so no need to hack off but is got some cheep rough paint on it witch you can rub with fingers and hand will have paint dust on it it's some poor attempt to tidy it up,customer wants it k-rendered or plain face rendered was gonna ask k-rend rep for advice what you chaps think about getting over it ?

First id do some prep work and try get off what you can the easiest way,
Then I'd be putting a base coat on it, full mesh and pins to hold it back.
Parex do product called parinter for sound painted render.
Weber have Rend aid, though they wouldn't advise it but I have scored area with grinder then meshed and it's been fine.

If the paint is poor parinter is no good.its needs to be sound for this

Refina scabbler we got two and can strip a 90m house of face brick paint and put a key in the brick in a couple of hours..,
