Hawk

Had bought marshalltown aluminium one before Xmas, within 2 weeks it was bent like a banana. Really disappointed in the quality. I had only used magnesium ones befre but they had none in the hardware store that day. Will never buy another mtown aluminum hawk again. Last week got a ramboo tools aluminium one, similar to the ox one, for like 12quid and for the price it seems the nuts for now. By now the marshalltown one was already bent lol

Blimey things must have changed, I've had a fair few over the years and they were always good. Working with S&C day after day used to give them a fair work out.
I had a Nela one for a while, the aluminium had the rigidity of my mums custard.
Back on the MT magnesium now.

Magnesium all the way, got a mt one 19 year ago tomorrow still use it most days. Bought a kraft one about 7 year ago still flat as witches tit.

I've got a plastic hawk. It's a nice bit of kit. I think I paid £20 for it.

I've still got a marshaltown aluminium hand board that I got in the early 80" s somewhere in one of the sheds. Been using a poly one for last couple of years, (not that it's seen much action latel y)

They have, most men I've worked with all used Mt aluminium hawks and they lasted rightly, workmate bought one a. Couple weeks before me, (from different places) and both bent just lookin at them. Can't cope with sand cement, barely even skim the ones we had. I'd have got magnesium if it was in the shop when I needed it(last hawk snapped at handle) but the ramboo one seems much sturdier for now anyways and less than half the cost. Mt aluninim6was 28 quid this was 12.

Ohhh from what I remember it was black, looks more like a clay colour now - will need to get the pressure washer on it

I was considering getting an alu one, but I see quite a few people complaining they bend easily (mine was only a fiver so don't expect it to last anyway)

What colour plastic? Careful now :D

Anyone remember the MT that had the plastic handle, once the red rubber ones came out I never saw the plastic again. They were the dogs b*ll***s - the same shape as the rubber but just felt great in the hand. I’ll post a pic later for those already drooling for a bit of tool-porn.

I've still got a few knocking about. The handle is tapered isn't it?

Always used the yellow plastic/Polly type last ages till get thin then onto the next one, I let lab use the metal one :coffe:

Haven't seen the hawks but been using the floats for years, use to always use the biscuit brown for s/c work lovely finish, the lighter colour ones were softer, all green now and nearly 40 euro a pop here.
