Hi chaps

The hardwall I have been using has been Snap setting quite drastically. Also strange it seems as though the underneath is going off whilst the surface still feels really wet so when I rub up the float tears chunks off. Now I have only started noticing this problem with the hardwall that has got the plastic bag incorporated in to the normal paper bag that it comes in. Anyone else noticed this? I have had 2 different pallets of gear on site one with the plastic bag and one without. Normal pallet w/out plastic bag is fine?

C-block + Celcon block (Gyp Primed).

Clint

sorry mate not picking but why are you sealing the blocks, hardward is for hi suction back grounds, not saying this could be causing the problem but it might not help, also have you tried to splash a little water on thesurface as you float it up.this helps the float from sticking as much .

celcon blocks should be primed as the hardwall is for moderate suction blocks not high suction try floating out in two passes one straight after the other and your going down by the way

im having exactly the same with bonding mate, you go back to touch it and it feels wet but its hard underneath you cant cut youre ceiling skirting lines back properly >:(.....2 mins later its gone.............are you getting lumps in youre mixes just before it sets

From what I am led to believe British Gypsum will not guarantee the plaster against defects unless you have treated certain surfaces with either ThistleBond-it or Thistle GypPrime prior to application (PVA by other companies is no good) and I believe celcon blocks fall into this catorgory because they are such s**t c**t to plaster onto. Obviously I'm not priming the concrete blocks just the celcon window walls perhaps I should of made this clearer in my post? I was mainly wondering if anyone else has noticed a distinct difference between the Thistle Hardwall that incorporates the plastic bag into the bag it comes in (the mauve/claret colour on the bags is even different) and the Thistle Hardwall that doesn't. It is happening on the C-block walls and the Celcon walls it is just rubbing up like s**t as Spunky described and then I will go and use some of the other pallett of normal Hardwall and it is fine? It's as if the plastic bag is changing the Hardwall whilst it is in storage maybe not letting it breath or it is retaining to much moisture. Iv'e even noticed whilst knocking it up that the old style of Hardwall needs slightly more water to get it to the right consistency as the new style bagged stuff? Spunky has the Bonding your on about got a plastic bag in the normal paper bag? Up the Hammers Grand Wizard! ;D

British Gypsum put plastic into the finish bags years ago, I think it was with Siraphite B. It didn't last long as I think they had a lot of complaints about it affecting the plaster. If I remember corrrectly we had a lot more lumpy bags because the moisture couldn't escape from the bags so defeating the whole point of the plastic.

If you are noticing a difference between the batches why not try mixing the 2 together, might even it out a bit (thats if you still have both lots?)

no just normal bags clinton ........wonder if its the winter thing when all plaster starts behaving strangely ???.........were you getting it on the t points bod ?

and dont forget there going to charge an extra 2.8% for that little problem . If i can i always use CPI general render now, know where you are full stop.
