this website seems to be going round in circles.. people ask for advice... we give it to them and sometimes some work comes our way... or the people we give the advice to get a contractor to do the job after taking our advice... it doesnt matter as i thought we were all on here to help people... as everyone is in the same boat so to speak... but just stop slagging people off for the hell of it, detremental comments on here doesnt look very professional now do they... its ok having idol banter in the private section but not made public as it makes us all look like complete fools... hahhahaha just waiting for the first comment now hmmm let me guess who will slag this thread off... lets do a poll...
 
I presume it's me that you're having a pop at. I think you'll find that I said I'm too busy to take on the guys job but would try and find a mates number who specialises in this work ( we worked together for 8 yrs) .

Ive been doing it for 30+ yrs myself, not including being brought to site by my dad since I was 7 yrs old to frighten me off the trade.
I know what I'm talking about mate
 
Not at all Mr Irish Spread you have never ever caused me any problems on here mate... the hunt goes on... for the tossa... but i wont name him or her...

Agree, most of the threads just turn in to pointless drivel now. And yet we get post wondering why good memebers no ong come on here and post. It also puts of newer members that may have stuff to contribute
 
Yes then when a mod deletes inflammatory or childish remarks theres a massive outcry over human rights or freedom of speech ,, it's hard gettin a balance and pleasing everyone and obviously there are gonna be personal differences and these are more than apparent, and there those that are quite obnoxious, forthright, and or very opinionated but at least you know who they are and you can dismiss what they say with a pinch of salt or avoid the thread, but there will always be people who want to have there say and that won't change just to suit certain individuals Steve

Did i ask for it to change??? its just when we give advice out we do it seriously.... and with the best intentions to help people out... getting slagged of constantly for trying to help is taking the ******* piss

So if you don't want it to change, what are you whingeing about, I don't see your point, your not above a few derogatory remarks your self , glass houses an all that

I think the childish, inflammatory, opinionated, obnoxious, forthright, derogatory, detrimental, idiotic banter is what's good about this place.

IMO you'd lose more members if it became to serious.

Granted asking for pics of a strangers wife might be a bit close to the bone, but 95% of the stuff on here is in good humour.

Danny, Maybe if you started a wife photo section like the names to faces section, your request for a picture of another mans wife on his first post might not have been construed as intrusive..........:RpS_thumbup:

have to disagree. a wife pic was asked to andy hills son. now bearing in mind what a **** he is i think it was a fairly timid comment

I have to agree with the start of this thread. My very first post on this forum was on a thread about stilts, having used them for 15 years and have used 3 different design of stilt and owned in all 4-5 in my career felt that I could contribute to someone wondering what to buy. Straightaway I was blasted and accused of advertising and told to **** off, I wasnt advertising but it nearly made pull away from this forum just cause of it and to make matters worse never got an apology. Joke is that person has been voted to be a moderator to this forum, I mean really, come on guys grow up .

He's got a good point .... I come on her looking for advice for the stuff I don't know and the stuff I do know - well generally someone else has answered it. This is one of the better places for advice with a really good humour running through it ... don't lose then humour!
 
I recon that coming on this forum is just like going to work on a building site or any other construction project , if you cant stand piss take and mindless drivel then i am afraid your in the wrong occupation . There is lots of good advice given out at times also there are some very bone questions asked which are only going to get one kind of response .Also i think the general opinion is that coursers and have a go's are not very high up the food chain where some of the older longer time served spreads are concerned but thats the way life is as i am sure that this is the way in other trades . There is plenty to learn from some of the answers given by some very experienced people and as we all know you are never to old to learn so take from this site what you want and dont be afraid to give a bit of s**t back when some is fired in your direction ,we are all big boys and should be able to take it .
