:D well came back to snag a job to day and a new socket had been added so i fort y not.. had a tin of the grate stuff! plasterboard/timber non expanding foam in my van so i filled up the chase.. its set within 5 mins.. then i took my saw to it made it flush and ran some skim over it gob done with'in 20 mins! anything wrong with doing that?

yeah but people often scim over foam on jobs? is there anything wrong with it.. just like renderign onto foam sometimes from window fitters ect

I would never skim over expanding foam as it won't be a solid enough background.

I always keep half a sheet of board in the back of the van. Handful of bonding, slither of board, skim straight over.
 
Knauf mp 50 is great for jobs like this sets in 50 min and will fill out to 35mm in one pass always keep some in the truck
