As you all have noticed this forum has grown and its good to say that its out grown this forum software now so in January 2011 we will be moving to a better forum platform that will run quicker and have a whole lot more options available.
I will also be moving the whole site to plasterersforum.com as this is a better domain and also opens the scope of the site up somewhat.
With the new software I will be able to target bigger companies with sponsorship as the new forum will be very flexible with advertising and we will be able to offer better options etc which in the long run will help everybody involved.
There will be a chat room which will be on a membership system say £2 a month as this will hammer the server but the price is small enough for everybody to be able to afford it.
There is the option to "thank" posts and this is a lot better than the current system we have as it will say underneath the post "thanked by Danny, Flynney etc"
I have also got a contact with a big trade center and hoping to get us a special discount card...... yup we started to get a lot of power now.
The one thing I will be changing is the the length of peoples signatures as I think that some of them are too long and filling them with Links is not what I would want... I have also set this forum not to follow external links.... One web address is enough.
The other thing I will be doing is having the forum wide open to the public again other than the forums that are restricted to post count.... (Private members and the Pub) but the difference this time will be that guests will be able to view 5 threads and then the site will lock and tell them to log in.... much better than the way I have been doing it.
So how are these changes going to effect you?
The change will happen over night... as that's when this place is most quiet.....
All you will need to do is reset your password and then you can login and everything should be as it is.
When the new site goes live there maybe lots changing and tweeking but bear with it as when its done its going to be awesome.
SO to make sure that the change runs smoothly please make sure that you all know the email address you used to register and your current password!
The software does have a cost and its pretty expensive but its the best there is and after this change no more upgrades will be needed.
