Fire damaged prep???

Doin a house reskim and the plaster in kitchen is all black from fire damage. Can I just pva and reskim or will it show through?

it must be an insurance claim. strip the walls back to block, overboard ceiling. why take any risk?

It won't show through although i would push for re-board. Done a fire damaged hall ceiling with no problems, guy just wanted it done so did it.

Any time I've worked on burn out insurance jobs, any scorched, smoke damaged sooty black, fittings ie: skirting, facings, Walls, doors whatever? They usually allow remove and replace, even if it's minor smoke damage. If it's just smoke damage wash it down,if it's perished by fire damage replace it
