So we have all heard them all when customers have been left in the lurch for whatever reason...maybe they are a nightmare, penny pinching, carrot dangling, bad attitude, don't provide enough tea, provide tea but no biscuits, only have herbal tea, provide tea but with only 1 tiny biscuit etc etc maybe the spread got a better paid job elsewhere...

They call you up and say we had a plasterer but...

- He just disappeared
- He doesn't answer his phone anymore
- He had alcohol issues and was drinking on the job
- He was going through a messy divorce and was unreliable
- Did his back in
- Did his shoulder in
- My wife didn't like him
- Had a bad attitude
- Good plasterer but really messy

I'm waiting for the the excuse to be used...the plasterer couldn't come back to do the job because he got Covid or had to go into quarantine :risas2: only a matter of time!

What excuses have you heard plasterers use for not finishing or even starting a job?

A subbie let me down once night before saying he had done his back in mowing the lawn.

i had one just a couple of weeks ago. on a refurb.
the wife told her husband ,a contracts manager with a medium size building firm. let that miserable b*****d finish the lounge but don't bring him back here again. i know that he is a very good plasterer, but because he moans about everything cost him a few grand.

Went to price a job for a multi millionaire Circus owner, heli-pad etc. They had a plasterer working on the job, but told him to leave at the end of that day as they weren't happy with his work. I walked in and he was still finishing his last set. Never forget his face looking up at me as I walked by. There were two rottweilers foaming at the mouth to get in through the patio doors. I didn't take the job.

In fairness I had a frozen shoulder and had a good customer, you know the type they recommend you to one family member and you end up working for aunts, uncles, nieces etc. Anyway had a 30m2 ceiling to do that had a hideously heavy artex swirl pattern. I managed to bond it out but couldn't put finish on it, my shoulder was f**k*d, so put a brush key on it. Told the customer I couldn't finish it and that I'd left it ready for a skim, I didn't charge them.

Some prick let me down because he was painting his van.

But surely you knew you were painting your van last night?

He didn't have much of an answer for that.

Aye he realised how much if dick you were and thought fuk him :risas2:

He's actually a good mate but I learned the hard way why he has a poor reputation.

One of them that fragments his work up so much that nobody can tell if he's doing any work or not and never gets anywhere on time.

I still speak to him but gone are the days I'd invite him to a job.

mind you my mother has a plasterer come in plaster last year as I rather spent it with my grandfather... and after that I could not be bothered....

wonder if she said that.... hmmmm
