Bitumen eh! When are you doing the job.......1982?

Seriously though, if the butumen isn't covered with something (at least a thin scratch coat) and you use normal board, everytime it's cold, condensation will cause the dabs to show through the boards.

I would frame the wall with 2b2 with a membrane and insulation , fix to the floor and into the ceiling joists then board and skim. just an idea like.
 
can you not slurry coat the walls for dabbing if you didnt have the deoth for framing it out??
 
Hopefully they also have thrown some sand on the bitumen to provide a key
Same as gps either get them to re do it again but throw some sand on it when tacky,failing that carlite bond it,i have done a few over the years and carlite bonding stuck to it.
