It's a massive building with a church and loads of offices in. I'm tanking a below ground wall and got asked for a price on the spit rising damp lol. They got 3 rising damp firms in, prices varying from £4600 + vat to £6800 +.
I quoted £2800 (caretaker told me the other prices). Not bad for 5 really easy days

I used this stuff. It stops water defying gravity and going up the wall. Amazing stuff

If rising damp didn't exist then why do building regs stipulate all new builds must have one?
Installing a DPC when building new costs nothing compared to remedial work in houses without it.
So if it didn't exist and it was a false economy why would regs stipulate the use of something minimal to protect against it and not just let it happen.
Granted a lot of damp companies say you have rising damp when you don't or blame it on no/faulty DPC when it is in fact due to high ground levels or poor drainage but this is down to salesmen on commission.
It's the same anything with salesmen involved, a problem will be found as they need there commission.
You can bet any big boiler service company will find faults that aren't as bad or exist like they make out.
Rising damp being a myth is myth within itself people just over play problems to create work.
Waterproofer doesn't actually make a render waterproof, it makes it weather proof but still absorbs water/moisture to some extent.
Why do people not make a big deal of this?

Funny you say that. It was only my 3rd time using it and it packed up. Still under garauntee tho.
No such thing as rising damp. You don't have to use a damp course in Holland but the rising damp never goes over there

No need to mix it cus theres already moisture in the wall. Use some noodle mate they might be on a water meter

S and c. All it needed was rendering but the rising damp wizards all concluded it was rising damp lol. The caretaker is a friend of mine and showed me their bullsh1t damp reports. The greatest load of bollix I've ever read

I haven't got it, caretaker is a friend and showed it to me along with their prices. Church surveyor obviously swallowed it all though even after I told him it wasn't rising damp spit. I've known him a while now and despite me showing him the cause of the damp insisted it was injected. These people have been brainwashed
