Got call today from one of my tenants. Complaining of the kitchen wall showing signs of damp. It was caused by the bathroom (overhead) having a slow leak last yr. the leak was repaired and I hoped wall would dry out. Well is hasn't so it's time to sort it.

i know most of what I need to do and I will be doing the following

hack off to brick leave to dry
sbr slurry?
two coat sand and cement
skim to finish

questions are as follows?
how long do you leave brickwork to dry?
is sbr nececasry?
is waterproofer added to base coat of sand and cement?

how long would you leave sand and cement to cure before skimming?

Thays what i did last yr lol. Dont want to kose the tenant as she is a good one...

Is the plaster loose? Does it have to come off?

If its just damp stain marks can you not give it a couple of coats of stain block then repaint windy?

As fatarm said mate.

If it's loose or **** plaster chop it off and waterproof render. For me it's 1 coat waterproof render then skim when cured. Unless it's over an inch thick then different coats.

SBR only needed as a bonding agent if needed poor key etc.

no no need to let the brickwork dry out. That's why you use waterproofer.

Would the stain bkock work if its at the stage where the salts r showing through

Carlite acts like a sponge..quickest option is to chop.off...dehumidifier for a week to draw any moisture out from wall area...

You could try salt neautralizer then stain block. May work may not.

To be sure it's hack off and Replaster.
