customers telling you what they want to pay

Had to share this, still laughing my c*ck off at the guys cheek. Phone rings today and some arrogant t**t says he got my number from a friend who I had done some work for. Said it was a 18sq meter artex ceiling that needed pva then skim (his words not mine) he then proceeded to tell me how he wanted this done which I can only assume he’s read of a really s**t diy book. Then to top it off the knob says “ Ive worked it out and £80 should cover it” at this point I couldn’t control my laughter and told this guy he was wasting my time and I suggest he go find someone else wanting to get mugged off. Half hour later he calls back offering £100. He is now blocked. Anyone else had similar?

I did years ago, told him it would be £120 for the job with materials. He replied with I think it’s more like £100 and I should give him a ring when HE gets back from his holiday. He’s still saved in my contacts as stupid c**t.

I could write a book. The 1 thing I have noticed though is that nobody has ever said it to my face there all 10 men behind a keyboard or phone!

I've said it before and il say it again the internet timed with the last recession killed the building game.

Not sure it will ever be the same again in my lifetime!

You're dead right about the internet mate. At one time even within the trade people didn't know what others were charging or paying for materials. Not to mention the chancers gleaning information about how to tackle jobs from way more experienced guys. This forum itself is a perfect example. A chancers paradise. No offence @John j.

There’s some proper loons out there! Best comedy value was the bloke who wanted his art studio plastering. He swung off the pipe work like a monkey trying to demonstrate strength, I think, while I was trying to talk to him. Then turns out he doesn’t even own the place!

I should have been more annoyed at the waste of my time but he was just too ridiculous! I pissed myself all the way home!

Not in subject but a cheeky customer story . Bloke texted me other day wants a quote but lives 18 miles away . I said I can get some point Wednesday. He said ok I’m off work I’ll be in all day . I messaged him in the morning said I can be there for 3pm. He said I’m at work mate can you come another day . I said just leave it mate . He texted me back yesterday saying do you have any other time slots preferably between 12-3 or after 5 . I replied saying I’m not amazon mate . He’s now blocked .

This is one of the topics actually that boils my s**t to the max- prices! It’s not bad enough that customers are trying to knock the price down, but you have people on here , who have the bravery to do it for other trades and calling themselves trades at the same time!!! Disgusting! Have said it numerous times- this place more or less works against us and there is no one else to blame but us - the billy big f**k**g balls.
Anyway, few days ago I got a phone call for mono ,250m2 @£40m2 supply and fix!!!!!!
The conversation went down a treat!

Never mind customer telling you what he wants to pay.

YOU DON'T KNOW YOU ARE BORN!

Mate asked me for a hand clearing out an old restaurant.

Turned out to be a p**i.

How much you gonna pay for all this carrying?
I'll look after you.
No, how much before I lift a finger.
Good money.
Last chance, how much?
I'll look after you.

Bye.

Well, that didn't pan out. p**i gave them a hundred quid each for two hours work while I was sitting in the pub congratulating myself for not falling for his shite.

Win some lose some.
On other hand . I just told a old builder it be 150 quid . And he said he.ll tell her 200 t0 250 to be safe. Ok mate we.ll go with 200
