What a s**t start to the year, Got loads to go at but sat here puking and shitting through the eye of a needle.

And to make matters worse new years eve day me vivaro blew up, complete rite off / scrap.

In tomorrow trying to get a new van leased.

Cant really mate, its another £250 a month to find, but not got much choice by the looks of things. Ive managed to put everyone off til about the 9th so i can sort something.

Just seems that you just get somewhere then the big guy comes along and kicks you in the tits and tells you to get back down.
 
its very true tho. u ge a few cheques in and you go, blimey, im doing alright, and then u break ur leg or your van blows up or something. and then u go, blimey, im skint. and it all starts again
 
i find lately that you cannot get a good run on site anymore due to the amount of graduate site management they see a unit boarded out and want more labour on it
 
The only way to look at it is there is only one way to go now and that is forward...

Noel I was your end today. Big farmhouse behind the Merc garage in stratford? The bloke had box after box of shotgun cartridges lying round in his kitchen lol

This is so true, last site i was on would of been sweet if they would of kept me and and another gang on one floor and the same on other floors, instead they flooded the job, and we where all fighing over flats, instead of going out of one into another it was all over the shop, and the work was shocking where gangs where coming in raping 2 or 3 flats then shooting off! was just left with all the s**t at the end where all the cream had been taken which they thought we where going to do on price......Joke

They seem to flood every job now, if they just kept couple of decent gangs on and maybe someone on there own like i was, be suprised how much area they could cover each week
 
It is all about money. The contractors want the work done as quick as possible because the banks are screaming for their money back.
 
ahh good stuff im a 55 plate so got a few years yet before they ban me haha cheers mate
 
I'm fast as **** and rough as assholes too well have to try working together one day mate so we can steal each others contacts I had a phone call off top fix before Christmas might be worth a shout mate I read you got knocked back on a couple of jobs
 
Can't be bothered myself to take on large jobs on my own, turned a few down recently, to much stress and strain on the body for the same wages as i'd get doing a small patch at some old dears.

Have you ever worked for them? they have the weirdest pay setup going

The last couple of firms ive worked for didn't stop retention so there are still firms out there lucius but the one we are working for now reckons 60 day payments :RpS_mad:

You work 2 weeks, then you have to wait a week after putting your invoice in, then they only pay you a week, so they constantly have 2 weeks on you...

I don't like the idea of that at all...
 
if you know the terms before you do the work, dont work for them then,
or live with it, pretty standard practice these days. most builders/devlopers i invoice im waiting a minimum of 30 days from invoice.

No I haven't mate what are they like I've heard the boarders moan because they have to load out I'd imagine there rates are tight like everyone else

This is as a subbie mind on a m2 rate, not doing the whole job and supplying...
