Hi all in need of a bit of advice just been asked to concrete over an old path which has seen better days I`m a bit reluctant to break up the old path because there are old clay sewer pips below how far I don`t know they could already be broken or maybe not but knowing my luck if I broke up the path and the pipes where already broken I`d get the blame for it so rather than do that I have suggested bonding and then putting new over the top the path is about 20ft long and about 2 and half feet wide its a back garden path so my question is any suggestions on what or how to bond it with and how deep the new concrete should be thanks in advance DUCKY :)

sweep old path down, remove any loose bits, dust etc then splatter a cement slurry to provide your key. The depth should be as deep as poss to prevent shrinkage/cracking, a minimum of 50mm, cover with polythene or keep perpetually wet once it's tamped and floated. ;)
