Cob lime and gypsum mess

Hi,

Taken off 5 layers of wallpaper on 1890 property. Cob wall with pat h repairs of fille and gypsum. Bit of a mess. Planning to knock repair holes with renovating plaster limelite. Then use finish coat of limelite. Will it stick or does it need primer?
