You're dead right I must have missed your point as to me it seemed you were saying that anyone other than a chancer would know everything and not need to ask or listen to anyone else. So as asked above, what is your point?
 
Is he trying to say that as long as the op was not a chancer, Then he would have no need to listen to others as in fact he would know it all anyway.
That's my guess :razz:
 
really don't get this post smudge, don't understand what you are getting at, the whole idea of this forum as with other forums of various trades etc, is the the fact that anybody can come on regardless of age/experience/ability and exchange comments about jobs/customers/builders, ask for advice as and when problems occur, give advice to those who are not as gifted as you, exchange funny/rude/amusing commemts, stories and tales about people we meet in our working lives, this is a forum we are all different all ages from all walks of life, at times we might all disagree with each other, or make sarcastic and many many times funny comments, but the bottom line is it is a forum, a very good website encouraging views/comments/laughter/advice from all over the country,

Ok, my point was based along the lines of, if you are a plasterer then surely to god you would know the chancers by questions asked or by comments made such as our good friend davethedog, hence you would know constructive replies when you read one. Quite simple really.

lol whatever lads. this is the stick i get for being the new guy like a fetchit boy on site lol. well we are all chancers in reality. we do'nt all know everything like casplas says. i asked some questions about why you ca'nt plaster on board and most lads did not know. a man asked the other day when he was watching me why the plaster did'nt fall off the ceiling that i was doing and i did'nt really know the answer and i said suction which i think is right but we are always learning
 
What defines a chancer? Could be someone completely capable of doing the work better than someone who knows everything about.distemper and substrates and the.process of producing gypsum etc. If the.chancer turns out nicer work I'd hire him...

definition of chancer in my mind is: fella who will try dive into any task/mission even if he/she doesnt know what there doing. but there are three types of these
1.try , fail, run
2.try, win, glory
3.try, fail, try, try and try again until you succeed
 
aye, i read that post by davethedog nisus. about the render falling off. don't mean he's a chancer, though. he's still learning:RpS_thumbup:
