Hi All,
My old garage/workshop (labour of love) which I’ve been slowly renovating over the last few years, hasn’t been touched for the last year, requires rendering over a mixture of old Cheshire bricks and external blocks and as you can appreciate the blocks are soaking wet and bleeding through.
My question is - can I SBR the blocks now to seal them until spring/summertime, then re-apply/tacky over the surface just before rendering?
Your advice is much appreciated.
Cheers

If you seal them they cannot dry out, except inside your garage/workshop. Suggest you find a way to cover or protect them from getting wet but letting them air dry.
- roof sarking tacked on top of battens maybe? so that air can flow behind.
Sure somebody else on here has good ideas.

Hi Brimstone,
Thanks for the reply - drying out first does make sense, maybe I’ll have to wait for a heatwave before spring!
So, assuming when the block work is dry, do you think my idea is feasible?
