After using Only pva for priming etc in the past,I thought after reading about it on here I would give blue grit a go.big thumbs up,wish I had used it before And would recommend it for anyone who hasn't tried it.:RpS_thumbsup:

its ok. i only use it as its the only one readily available. its very messy! personally think micro is better but no where round here stocks it so its finding time to make a trip over to brum.

With the micro, how soon after can you skim over it?obviously if its just a couple of walls then I would just slap on the pva.

Who said that and why?
They( the makers of said product) don't want you to dilute it cause you would in effect gettin 2 for the price of one:rolleyes) I've been doin it per your tip Dannymac, no comebacks :RpS_thumbup: easier to put it on too when diluted

I didn't say it, but I wouldn't go watering down products that didn't recommend it in their instructions. I mean I don't know more about their products than they do, do I?

Like someone mentioned in another topic, you wouldn't water down water as it becomes more watery (unless is concentrated and you need the viscosity) :RpS_thumbup:

Not sure what you know, if you want to follow their instructions that's up to you.

:RpS_lol::RpS_lol: You're clutching at straws, the same way you'd be if you tried get anything back on the warranty. Ever tried it?

i find that blue grit goes from being really thick to like piss too easily when diluting it. i was using it yesterday and skimmed it today. how much do you dilute it danny?

Not loads TBH, like you say it has to be thick enough to evenly distribute the grit. I normally mix it with a strongish pva/water or sbr/water mix, maybe 2l to 10l bluegrit.

Throw water on it the next day and it doesn't re-emulsify and you can't scrape it off.

This is that test I was on about. It's on bathroom paint, IIRC left to right is neat bluegrit, microgobetis, watered down bluegrit.

As you can see neither of the blue grits could be rubbed off, but the microgobetis came off with very little resistance to my wanking hand. :RpS_thumbsup:

I'm sure on at least one product (I think either Betakontact or Thistlebondit) it says you can add 'up to 10% water' :RpS_thumbup:

i dont like bondit. i like wba but think for the price the amount you get is a rip off. betokontakt comes in around £70 a tub

Yeah that's good stuff. £70 is a lot but that's for a 20l tub isn't it?

I think we pay about £17 + vat for 10l of bluegrit. But the grit is bigger so you use more finish to cover.
