best way to remove van sign writing

I'm going to sell my van so want to take the sign writing off, only been on 6 months or so, anyone got any tips on how to do it....google said a hairdryer but would imagine you get left withbglue residue all over it
 
I've tried the hairdryer method and made a bit of a mess! Took it to one of the local valet guys and got it cleaned up nice. Maybe there is some chemical you can get?
 
Heat gun but take your time it can and will blister paint if its used in the same place to long.

Then use auto glym tar remover for any residue left over only £8 from Halfords

Or take it to one of those £5 valet places they have some stuff to get it off but stupid as it sounds make sure they know what your on about they've done some horrible things to get it off and caused akot of damage to some vans

You want to get some acetone Lodan. It's the best thing you can get for that. Be careful to wear rubber gloves though. It's used a lot with fibreglass so anywhere selling that kind of thing should stock it.
 
I'm talking about the glue residue. For removing the stickers then a heat gun. Or brush on some break fluid and leave for ten minutes.
 
Elephant semen!! They squit 18ltrs every "jizz" so should easy be enough to do your van. Just get them some good elephant porn mags to get things started

Dont ask about that facking thing it doesn't ever move I offered to buy it off the owner because I wanted turn into a recovery truck but he thinks its better being sat there not ever used

For new van signs I've always used magnetic. When they fade or you want to pep em up, whip then off and new ones. Better when it comes to reselling van, just to take them off and good for when going to the tip . Saves getting the ole 'Oi you're a plasterer you can't come here'... f**k off pal its me Nan's mattress, wanna sniff.
 
Go to a signwriters, they will keep the right product and will sell you a few litres for a wee drink
 
Have you tried an angle grinder or a belt sander? HP sauce is meant to be good as well? Iv seen it clean copper and teaspoons and that?
 
magnetic signs are what I use to use as well :D you can then decide whether you want your van sign written or not
 
I had magnetic signs for my first van. Scratched the paintwork up a fair bit. Wasn't a problem with that van as it was a piece of shite anyway but wouldn't use them on anything half decent now.

They will affect the paint, bit like any signs.

a good detailer can fix that though :D
 
I do a few signs in my spare time as a bit of a hobby as I like the design side.
To initially get the vinyl off use something flat like a credit card to pick up the edges and peel the lettering/graphic off.
A little heat helps keep the vinyl from tearing if it's a little brittle.
If it was a cheap job the vinyl will have been 3 year sign vinyl and could have started to go brittle by now.

To remove the residue the best product is surgical spirit.
Doesn't harm the paint and gets the residue off quick sharp.
Plusses it's readily available and cheap as chips.

After just give the area a Polish with decent Polish and a buff up.

Job done.

You can actually buy a flat plastic blade to remove vinyl for a couple of quid but just for a one off a credit card will work being careful.

I took sign writting off my van today using hairdryer to warm it up and picked edges that peeled it all off nicely.
Going to try wd40, acetone and some other stuff I've already got to see iff the glue residue comes off quickly. If not I'll look where I can get some surgical spirits to see if it works better.
