Has anyone had problems with beads bellying between dabs in the sun?
The job were on it's face brick and render, the brick is 15-20mm proud of the block and the architect wants the full underside of the bead showing over the brick, this is in the areas above the brick so it's 30mm were using 10mm

I'm cutting the angle beads at 6 inches from the bottom and forming bells so I don't want the back edge of the bead on the bell cast bear in mind its 15-20mm from the wall then the bead upright just incase I scrape it back and hit the top lip of the bead so on my bell casts I'm pushing the top of the bead back to the wall

We did a row in the sun and all the gaps between dabs have bellied out I'm not sure if it's the pressure on the bead going back at the top or the sun beating on it, the row we did out of the sun didn't belly so I'm not sure if it's me or we've got shite beads that are expanding in the sun???

I'm going to either get a fixing with nails if I can in-between or butter them back with stiff gear tomorrow and I've asked the chap were working for for some mesh to wrap over them just incase

I think it could be a bit of both but it's weird how it didn't happen on the shady spots??

weve had the same on monday wth some 15mm expansion beads, its the beads moving in the heat. we just meshed them as a precaution

Cheers rich, do you think it could be down to quality of beads I've never seen it before thank **** we weren't doing a little panel and it blew the render

i dont recall seeing it before either, mind you in ourcase it was on a southfacing wall with the sun on it all day and about 23c. our beads were from direct bulding so it may have some thing to do wth the components in the make upof the beads,
ill wait for jfe to come along and tell me what the beads are made of :RpS_laugh:

I'll have a look where mine are from tomorrow the first batch was probead but wrong colour so had to change them
I'll stick a bead on the wall away from the bells tomorrow just one dab each side a foot length and see if the same thing happens if it does I'll take a load of photos bit scary this one

You will when its hot mate, ime sick of saying Spain as i feel ime coming across as some know it all c**t which ime not but thats what they do and its hot in Spain:RpS_wink:

Owls there direct building beads, this morning they had shrunk back but again when we left they bellied again

We had this happen with some 6mm stop beads on a 180 metre run of an EPS projected soffit. Fixed with buttons at 150 centres, the beads bulged out from heat between every fixing. It ended up with a button every 50mm.So no lobster for me this weekend.

No , it had not been LAC'd . I think if it had LAC ,d before the heat had got to them it would not have been an issue.

Mark what's the difference between lac and rendaid sorry I've read it but it all sounds the same to me

LAC is used in light weight thin polymeric systems normally finished with acrylics. Rendaid is used as a pre treatment prior to rendering, usually over smooth or problematic surfaces to provide a key for the finishing system.

Has it always been like that or recently mate I've used rend aid over aqua panel before I always thought it stuck too anything if it sticks to engineering bricks why use lac instead of rend aid over insulation?

Basically, because LAC is the specified polymer compoment of the MT system.

I dont think Weber endorse rendaid over calcium silicate board. ( not sure)

Deviate from this, then have problems with the system and your on your own.

Ever tried rubbing up rend aid to a flat even surface...???

I do see your point, but realistically in the world of contracts , you simply dont ever cut corners. It could be the undoing of all you have grafted for over the years.

Here I am

The beads are made in a factory where all the workers are spurs fans so they talk shite all day and forget to put the anti sun chemical in

Been using Delsy beads just recently, strong they are like.
