Sat many a time unfolding old newspaper pages used as filling on old properties everything from court pages to old adverts , a look back into our past and knowing not been handled since the bloke who stuffed it in there .
Nothing's really changed still a good filler easily at hand

Yes done it a few times in stud work or on ceiling before overboarding.
When i used to buy the newspaper id put the footy in.

Did ceiling lime plastering job in church, first plastered in 1800s, note left by the plasterer, took me 4 months to take down and re plaster. put my name and date next to his.

Always write on the back of the board when doing a ceiling, even pulled one down after a leak and found my own name!!!

I always mark the walls about 2ft up with a little note that has some ones name on aged 34
Whoever uncovers it in years to come will think a family of dwarfs have lived ther

I often leave a note on the back of a plasterboard in my best handwriting which reads "I have no interest in this and don't know what i'm doing"

Found some interesting notes/letters once;

Was working in local mansion house being renovated. Pulled off some panneling to find several letters pushed behind from the window sill area. Mainly from politicians and ONE from Winston Churchill - naturally the owner was well chuffed and probably still has them ..... (or financed the renovation from the sale of them - EH?)

The local judge gives a straight 1 year ban for anyone caught in a disabled spot without a permit. No fcuking about with this one i tell ya.

As for the OP, when we take down some drystone walls to reinstate, we usually come across a few empty guiness bottles from years gone by. Never no notes thou.

I found a few old Roy of the Rovers comics on top of some boards when I ripped a ceiling down a few weeks back. Not worth much and a bit dusty but interesting.

Them women had bushes like zz top
Didn't have clippers in the seventies

We did some flats a few years ago and found a huge bundle of old sun newspapers. Naturally our room was a hue collection of 1960s page 3 girls.
