Apparently they have no plots ready! So tell me to patch a bay window then do sound coating but the fcuking house ain't even built! What a fcuk waste of time! What am I doing this shiiiit for!!! Site work is soooo shiiiit!

on the other hand I looked at 9 private jobs last week it gave me at most 13 days work collectively of which half id rather not do due to logistics or customer.

on average drive of 40mins each way to look at job
20 mins average viewing job
1hr working respective price for each job and email quote etc

=1440 mins of my time for free which = 24hr (2days)

this is why I along with other reasons I want to be viewing work that at least can give you a couple weeks to a couple of months at a time.

So I recon for that speculating if im lucky or unlucky depending how I look at it and end up doing half of that work ive spent 24 hr to get only 1 weeks work back!!!!!!

its like going for a job interview every other day to get the next days job its ridicoulous!!!!:RpS_thumbdn:

But private domestic work pays so much better than site. Doesn't the extra time taken for pricing and gear collecting get covered in the job quote
 
We don't charge for extra time pricing, collecting gear, doing payroll Cis etc. If we did we simply would not win work. Its all done in your own time. Time your wife or kids pay the price for but clients don't give a sh1t about that when they use you and mess you about.
Don't see plumbers getting messed about with their call out fees do we....
I wish we could charge for all the hrs we put in but life isn't fair you gotta work hard.

Site work can be good if there is a decent run and its set up and loaded out well with mats and water n power and as long as its not flooded with men.

Trouble is that's so so rare now. Needle in a haystack type of site
 
i know the basic price of a job within the first few minutes of arriving at a property. just got to add on as much profit that i can earn. make a material list, give them the quote there and then and give a starting date.
 
Site work is completelely different from years ago. We would float the concrete ceilings ready for the artexers as well as float and set the walls. Screeding was also done by us.
As an improver I would make good after the price workers without anyone chasing me up.
Money may not have been great but I was constantly in work.Most of my work is now domestic and as my son is now working for me,you should see the **** I have to price just to stay busy.Little to choose between site or domestic.
