1st post so please be gentle lol

right own a house in SE Essex typical 1960's semi chalet style , I'm looking to get re the external brickwork rendered basically amounts to 1 gable end & 2 lower parts front & rear & the dwarf wall the the conservatory sits on so its all the same ,it is a cavity wall house that's recently been cavity filled , having the top dormas upvc cladded soon & then want to follow on with render over the brickwork , but after doing a little research it seems there's a few different products to choose from .

So please any advice as to go for the old fashioned sand & cement render , know this will need painting not to phased by that or do I go for this monocoush that I'm led to believe already has the colour in it so no need to paint , or the various other types of wall finishes availiable ?

Thanks for reading & any advice / input appreciated

its more important who you get to do the render than what render you have , Essexandy is not on here much anymore , so google Sandon plastering , i cant do links even more so this time of day .

also try gibbo on here , there is a few others on here from essex but ive not seen there work

Like you have said there is sand and cement if you dont mind painting, monocouche which is a coloured render with a flat but grainy surface or a render system with a synthetic finish.

Price will be that order too.

The monocouche will good for a time but like any mineral it can look grubby after a few year but is easily painted. The sythetics vary in price but tend to keep cleaner longer and there are the self cleaning variants.

An established rendering contractor will have samples on him and can explain the benefits. UK Plastering Machines on here will be able to advise on local specialist he is Essex based.

All il say is do your reasearch a lot of guys should have a website with examples of work or even someone with a good portfolio they can physically show you and don't just go for the cheapest price it's usually inexperience to give a correct quote. Both systems are equally good if done correctly I would lean towards s/c but that's just from a personal preferance nothing wrong with krend ect

I personally wouldn't advise a system without seeing the property,as rigsby said mono can look grubby,if the house is on a main road or surrounded closely by a number of trees I would possibly rule out mono and go with acrylic, too many variables to list but you see where I'm coming from,I would get someone who knows what they are doing from your area and weigh up the pros and cons and decide whitch material will suit your property.:RpS_thumbup:

Thanks for all the replies fellas really appreciated , I've
taken everything on board & I'll continue to do my research , I'm in no rush & would wait for the weather to improve as well & continue to look around , I'm in construction so fully aware that cheapest is not the best & above all else you get what you pay for , want a proper job done that will last :)

I'm in Mayland not to far from Chelmsford

Don't take too long finding someone. The good ones get booked for months in advance. For summer find someone by May.
