get a website made...... put address on the side of your van/car. ive tried all the rest and there shite. except the local paper but thats quite at moment, to many people advertising and no one ring up.

the only other one is, word and mouth and you cant pay for that  :'(

I find leaflets door to door are good when i started out in Jan i made up 200 leaflets and posted them through peoples boxes got apprx 5000 grand of woork out of those in 9 months. Not bad. Haven't got a website but heard they are good costly though i got quoted 3000 the other day for 1...gonna make my own on apple iweb. Always worth contating builders got loads of work from them or electricians if you dont mind patching

ITS LIKE U WER READING MY MINED THATS PRETY MUCH THE WAY IM GONA PLAY THING SEE HOW I DO SEEN SOMEWHEIR THAT DELIVER THEM IN THEIR FREE PAPER ROUND.

Danny contacted the guy who did this www.getturner.co.uk

1500 for front end

than another 1500 for all the scripts etc to fully update it yourself, thugh that was quite resonable for a good quality site...unfortunately haven't got the cash...u use iweb danny?

i thought about leflets, but when ever i get them through the door, i throw them in the bin. to me there a waste of money.

if i was you i would try your local paper

lol yea be prepared to hear the sound of tearing paper when walking away from some doors

TO BE HONEST I PUT MY LEAFLEST IN BIT ALWAYS HAVE A FAST LOOK READ AND .I STOP FOR A PAWS.SHOULD I. HOW MUCH WORK ARE THEY GETING FROM THIS .THEN I BIN . MUST SAY DONT GET MENY PLASTERING 1NS THROUGH POST .

what would you do if you needed an electrician to come and bang a new ring main in your house? where would you look first?
that my freind is your local answer (and i dont mean thomson)

No I dont use iweb, I have my own hosting company so my sites are hosted on my owner servers.

All my sites are designed by me, and a lot of my business comes from either word of mouth or from my website. if you type plasterer milton keynes in to google I am the first plastering company.... now that is where the money is.

I have spent many years learning how to dominate search engines and I do ok from what I have learnt.

when you buy a site from most people you will just get the site and thats it but theres no point in having a site if no one can find it.

Just my though, I have flyers printed and I have posted millions of them but never got much, I also run an advert in my local ads magazine but that has slowed down a bit too.

We will see how things go in the next few weeks

Danny

PS if anybody wants a site doing PM me

HAHAHA FUNNY THING LAST TWO WEEKS SINCE I COME HOME I DUN 3 LITLE JOBS ALL FROM PPL IN MY LOCAL PUB. TA WIFE GONA HAVE TO SETLE FOR ME TURNING INTO A P.SS HEAD .LETS FACE IT MY BAG A CHARGE DAYS HAVE GONE ENY WAYS

i work part time at sainsburys as im sure your all sick of hearing but since i leave my van parked at the front near the door ive had so far..... an interior designer offering me work, people come up and ask for cards and chat about work they want doing (as im coming and going in my sainsburys uniform :D) and even people i've worked with for yrs ask whered ive bee hiding as i barely work there now and after explaining i work for myself plastering and tiling they all have jobs that need doing. get your vans signed up and leave them at the local DIY stores/suermarkets, just think, everyone needs to go shopping so loads of mpeople are gonna see it, even if they see it and think oh we could do with a plasterer one day, they might take your number down for future reference 8-) best £22.99 i ever spent that advertising was :) get some flyers printed off and get friends to post them on their works message boards too

When I first started out, I got in touch with my local FMB (Federation of Master Builders) - The Chairman was a very helpful chap and send me via E-mail a list of all 173 members in the Dorset area - Once armed with this info, I proceeded to do a letter to every member telling them who I was , what I did and offered to show them the quality of my work if they ever needed a plasterer - Got several good contacts from this approach, ones that still use me today

And like Spoon85 you cant beat a bit of free advertising outside the builders merchants or DIY store - Get some 'company' polo shirts (more professional than t-shirts) printed up and make sure you wear them whenever you go to busy places - shopping, the match, PC World , anywhere - You'd be surprised how many people look at logos on shirts cos they are nosy and one of them might just need a spread

ive recently been lookin on the net at free advertising sites, and i came across BT Tradespace. Basically they more or less give you a website, you put all your details in, photos, videos etc. you also have your own address that you splash across the side of your van.
