I'm looking a doing some advertising and am finding it a bit of a minefield, when trustatrader and yell are asking around £500 to advertise I cant really afford to get the wrong one. They all claim to be great but they're all bullsh**ting salespeople. Any tips??

1st: Get Danny to do you a website. (send a drink my way Danny 8) )
2nd: Get your van sign written, with web address on etc ;)
3rd: Advertise locally: shops, parish magazines etc etc
even post business cards in your area & surrounding areas ;)
It all helps to start with just get your name about :)

And then watch the money roll in ;D

Remember to ask customers where they got your number from so you can tell which ads are working for you. :)

Im not a full time spread but i do advertise my other business

1) Website has to be top priority- get a pro to do it home made templates look s**t. Then get it optimised
2 ) Leaflet local areas yourself when your not busy- u can get 2000 done for £25 on ebay with artwork
3) Advertise in free resouces- gumtree and ebay etc
4) Ask friends family to put the word out
5) Free business cards from vista print
6) Sign written van
7) Advetise in local rag

forget yellow pages etc

Good luck

And watch those bags roll in Nisus. You coming over to do my venetian ceiling in the morning?

i obviously can't speak for anyone else, but last year i spent 300 on a yellow pages ad and got about £8000 in work. it's very well established household name for a reason for a good reason - it works. i would bet on it at the very least paying for itself so you got nothing to lose. i'd give yell.com a swerve though.
