Unfortunately DIY texturing ruined the game. Plastering is nice, but like everything, people have different tastes.
I taught myself to plaster to get around the diminished texturing game I was in for 40+ years, really like coving too which fortunately is still quite popular.
Just finished a couple of ceilings that were the first ones ive done for christ knows how long
I like plastering and texturing as it breaks the monotony.
