3rd coat of skim

I’ve laid up two coats of skim on a stipple artex ceiling. The finish isn’t good enough. Will I be ok to pva and put a 3rd coat up?

Allway give first coat a few flattened on artex and let it pull right in before second

Well.... you can, but the thicker the final combined layers are, the more risk there is of it cracking if the ceiling/joists flex, and that's without considering the weight of it all.
