Just done a ceiling today, it was around 6mx4msq, i charged 250 for cash and when the lady paid me she told me about another quote she got, turns out the the other guy wanted £480 and said it would take him 3 days, it took me and my mate 4 hours but this other guy drives about my town with his lettered van saying he,s a spread ,pisses me off and gives the trade a bad name he went on one of them courses but if they get told 3 days for a ceiling GREAT all the more for us then ;D

Jesus 1 set took 4 hours did you buy slow setting plaster. And thats only 24m2 which is roughly 2-3 bags easily done by 1 spread imo.

Bod I think you will find the 4 hours is from the time he knocked on the front door to the time he shut it on the way out. I would of done it on my own though then again im greedy

the builder was a chancer... been told 3 ceilings a day, been down the pub and got it arse to bollox...
theres quite a few people never picked a trowel up in their lives running companies 'specialising' in domestic building works, charging over the odds and turning out shite work but theyre getting the work cos some tw@t with a posh motor and an ego problem turns up making out theyre the best thing since sliced bread...

i really need to get a whistle and a beemer... ;D

How do you get those prices, I would quote £180.00 knowing full well some chancer will come in at £100.00

which makes no sense then as you would still lose out to the the so called chancer at 100 I never price a job cheaper because someone maybe cheaper than me.

you should always charge what your worth an thats it forget about whats going on around you charge your day rate or whatever an thats it end of dont let it become a battle i never lower my prices an thats it

I was only joking about the 3 days to do a ceiling.
It would really take me 2 & a half days.
Oh & maybe half a day the next day to clear the job off ;D
