hi,lads,i'm gonna invest in the makita 10.8v drill & impact driver. did a post a bit back asking about the makita 14v impact driver but a few of ya's said it was 2 aggresive for boarding,a few joiners have said the same. a few of you, reccommended a dry wall gun but i dont do that much boarding. so i'm gonna go for the makita 10.8v double pack. your opinions please?

Used the 14v Makita impact the other day for putting in noggins was driving 100mm self piloting screws through 100mm of wood...no problems. Batteries died quickly but think it was about 3 years old (borrowed) also killed my driver bits but awesome piece of kit....for plasterboarding i use a normal drill driver with one of those plasterboard drill bits...sets the screw into the board perfect everytime.

i've got the 10.8v set. impact driver is too harsh for boarding but good for other carprentry jobs. drill is spot on, nice and light, quick charge and a little light! i recommend em mate.

makita drywall gun all the way, even if you only board occasionally it halves the time of screwing them up, and you dont get any of those f**k**g nightmare splinters from the screws!

I use the 18v auto feed aswell and set up well it works amazing
Yep, i've got both of those, the autofeed is s**t hot when boarding alone and the 18v for all other job, also batteries recharge in 22mins.
Does the 10.8v have enough power and would the battery last for more than a few boards?
