As I'm new to this game, the hardest thing I'm finding is levelling up old 1950's pi**ed up council house walls, that are so uneven I assume the spreads of the day were downing snakebites at spoons before they even started work.

As I start my plastering journey with Fred the spread, I want to buy the right tools that will help with my learning. I haven't the money to waste on expensive gimmicks so honest opinions from people in the trade would be greatly appreciated. I know many will say all you need is a decent trowel...
My old 1950's friable walls have been stabilised with Everbuild 406 and now no longer disintegrate when I rub my hand over them. I intend to skim these with Multi Finish but need advice as to whether I still need to PVA or SBR the wall beforehand, any sarcastic advice greatly received.
Dunno where to start, so was gonna pay out for Blaine Gray's - The Plasterers Blueprint but don't know anyone who has bought it, so what do you lot think? Cheers
